The overall trigger pull length is shorter than the elite and range from 1 lb 14 oz to 2# 14 oz.Yes, there are a few companies that make "conversion" barrels for Springfield XD and XDm. I bought a Storm Lake "Conversion" barrel in 9mm that I can swap out my .40s&w barrel on my XDm. But, it must be a Conversion barrel. You can't put an ordinary 9mm XDm barrel in the XDm40 slide. It won't fit properly, thus the need for the conversion barrel.

A "flat top" XD slide could just be drilled-and-tapped for the slide-mounted optic, leaving plenty of material inside for the Firing Pin Safety. I have a springer precision trigger in the 4.5 frame and since it was fitted to my 4.5 slide, it is not as good of a trigger with a different slide. That would be my only caution.The stainless steel used in most firearms is a 400 grade stainless which will rust a bit when exposed to salts, etc. BTW, 400 series stainless steels are also magnetic, which makes it real simple to confirm.
