The HomePods seem to get warm with those volume lights on. I’ve noticed this and it seems to be a bug when connected to the AppleTV and you’ve played music. You need to quit the music app on AppleTV and the lights will turn off. Unfortunately you will need to do this anytime you ask the Homepods for music since they play from the AppleTV.
