Fit was pretty good except for one piece was longer than the coresponding piece on the other side. Stryker made good and sent me a whole new top (which fit perfectly). I sold the boat before using the top much but while the pipe is 2" aluminum, it is VERY thin (but also lightweight).

The Penn 309 used to be the standard for bay trolling. Most guys used 30 lb mono in spring / summer - then put on 30lb Monel for late fall / winter. It's a good reel for spring - I'd stick with lighter lures - up to say 10 ozs.
