It works just as well in Subnautica: Below Zero as it did in the original game, and Shadow Leviathans still can't handle the sheer POWER of the Drill Arm. Plus even if the drill arm doesnt the Grapple really SHOULD, since where the drill really only used for farming you really do need thr Grapple it seems even with the jump upgrade to really be able to move around in the prawn in some areas. I disagree on all points. It’s not difficult or tedious to hop out and grab your resources.

I found the Drill Arm fragments around wreck in north of Grand Reef. I think saw them in Blood Kelp Trench wreck. I found the Grappling Arm fragments in the Underwater Islands wreck. My understanding is that they can also be found in Dunes and Mountains wrecks but those areas have Reapers. Wrecks.
