There is a difference between Zombie infection and normal wound infection though. If you have no infection enabled then a bite will still cause a bad wound and may show as "Infected" but you won't actually turn into a zombie.

The wound getting infected is not your concern. You should eat food, being full improves the regen speed of your health. Generally it’s not worth it to take a bandage off, the healing rate of a dirty vs clean bandage is very similar.
