The Default start is best for beginners. This is important: Do pick fights you can't win, Do not pick losing fights you can't recover from. Kenshi has a complicated health system, which will often mean you bleed out on your first playthrough. Losing is ok and expected. 1.

( left click on a house to see if its for sale ). buy it and setup your first protected base. start researching in safety. until your least lvl 30 in many stats, avoid people with blades. try and keep someone on the side for healing. out of combat. Never started in Black Scratch, but I think you could steal good armour from Reaver Ironclads for the beginning, then get access to Crab Armour early in Crab Village and train your combat skills on Reavers. Beak Things nests are free gold from eggs and Leather to train your smith. Plus close vicinity to library. Looks like solid starting area.
