I have a 1998 2510 mule and it just started getting water in the oil. And in a big way. Filed the water reservoir and drove about two miles and the reservoir was abot half empty. Checked the dipstick and the oil was milky and way up the stick. Drained the oil and removed the filter all milky. Fill the system from under the seat until coolant comes out of the intake. Put the screw back in and tighten it. Then continue filling until coolant comes out of the radiator. Reinstall radiator cap. If you are saying that you cannot get the gear lever into a position on the dash, then one might assume that the selection cables between the gear lever and the transmission case are out of adjustment. The field excitement from the power source, the stator (charging coil) is also incompatible between the two systems, so the ignitors are also unique and not interchangeable.
