The super 4020 title was a very accurate on for them. 18.4x38 tires are probably the most common size for them. The power difference between them and a 4020 is very noticeable. Without a turbo a 4020 will usually smoke very heavy once you push it to around 110 hp. With the turbo the 4320 can push up near 150 with very little difficulty.

Member. Feb 6, 2012. #1. I have a 4020 with powershift that my Dad bought new in 1969. The engine has been rebuilt 1 time. Tractor probably has 10,000 hours on it. The transmission has never been touched. Had another 4020 that also had a power shift with a front end loader. We used this 4020 to clean out our poultry houses and load the litter with.Went from a quad-range to powershift. When new the 4640 could not do the work of the 4630. After a year we found there was a program to redo the torque capsule in the injection pump. Deere had the wrong-headed idea that a torgue curve should be flat and accomplished it by taking off high end governor response.I’m having trouble with my tractors fuel system. I run a 64 4020 gas, first year for 4020 so your late 4010 would be a 63. The aluminum carb was a real bad deal, the big iron carb with vacuum accelerator pump was not much better. In my opinion the carb on the 4020 was much oversize for the application and runs poor at anything but full load.

4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Installed new ground strap, (24v pos. ground system) connected right to diff bolt, after filing to clean metal.

Owner replaced generator with alternator because the 4020 is indeed a hoss. Designed to run on row crops all day at full speed. Off and on hay use would not keep the batteries charged. Alternator supposed to charge better at slower speeds and shorter run times. The later early models and on only have 2 reverse gears that are sped up. The the early ones, 1st reverse is the same speed as 3rd forward, 2nd reverse is like 5th and 3rd reverse is like 7th.
