If you don't own sticks now I would highly recommend a style with a rope and cinch cam. No straps with buckles clinking around while walking or setting up.

I've got a set of the large helium sticks. I've done a couple mods on them, added silencer strips to the backs and Amsteel daisy chains to replace the cam straps but that's it so far.
