The GP100 has to be built beefier due to it being a cast frame instead of a forged one. That said, Ruger over-does it and the GP100 is a goddamned tank. The new Python seems perfectly robust though, and it tends to have much nicer finishing work (polishing, machining, small touches) thanks to its higher price point.
