I used to be a coach at asurion. Worked there for over 11 years. Asurion doesn't care about a reddit thread nor what anyone on here is saying. They care about profit because Asurion is a business at the end of the day. These layoffs occurred because more money was spent than made in those groups.
Honestly, either way you go, you get Asurion as they power Samsung Care as well. 99% of the time, you get a refurbished device, but I have personally seen customers get new in box items as well. AT&T/Asurion insurance is a joke. My wife dropped her phone (Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra) and cracked her screen, we thought it was fine because we have AT&T mobile service and she could use her phone well enough in the meantime. So I set up a time for a technician to come by the house on Jan. 21st.
