Tailgate Pad like the Raceface T2 Pros and cons? Crossbars with the rack seem nice because you can still use the bed of the truck and close it. Tailgate is unobstructed. Rear camera and sensors are unobstructed. Aug 25, 2023 · Anyone else worried about the thickness of the padding. Looks pretty thin but it’s hard to tell from the photos. I have a raceface pad that works really well, is reallly well padded, and holds 5 bikes. That said I like the way the Rivian pad looks and fits so am on the fence for sure.

I didn't want a tailgate pad because I didn't want to risk scratching or denting my tailgate and didn't want to mess around with straps. The system I just installed is all bolt in and fits under the tonneau. The entire point of buying a tailgate pad is so I don't have to use additional things (bungy cords, tie downs, etc) to secure my bike.
