No I'm not talking about missing functionalities (of which there are many). I'm talking about the utter lack of snappiness, responsiveness, freedom, whatever you want to call it. ArchiCAD's only advantage used to be it's cost. It was cheaper than Revit, so all the smaller companies bought it. Smaller companies like Mum and Pop Architect firms that do cute houses and the odd medium sized commercial/retail project. Nowadays ArchiCAD has increased in price and is nearly as much as Revit. We work with facades and we use both Revit and AutoCAD. Our shop drawings contain a large amount of detail that would be difficult to draw in a Revit and populate out through an entire building. We find it easier to do our shop drawing details in AutoCAD and all of our elevations, plans, and coordination models in Revit. Revit has a massive learning curve, even for experienced professionals. SketchUp is designed to be accessible and intuitive (for the most part). A few points. neither program will handle complex curves very well (not sure what you're modelling but it may be curvy).

I find groups in archicad are terrbile compared to revit groups. the idea that i have to hotlink are more like external references is a time killer. Revit sections just aren't great when working in any scale smaller than 3/4" imo. The model just doesn't have the detail. We did use Revit to cut sections but would often have to manually draw additional details.

Many types / sizes of projects don't require 3d, and it doesn't make sense have the extra cost for licensing, training, hiring etc to use Revit. Revit costs several times more per seat than traditional autocad for just a subsription.

Depends on how powerful the server is and how many people are using Revit. Revit requires a decent amount of Ram. So if you are a midsize firm with 300 Revit users daily then the speed/clunkiness is going to be based on how much ram is available to allocate to each user. Probably want somewhere near 1-2 Tb for that many users.
