At 12 weeks you would not need a transvaginal exam. Baby is big enough to see, including heartbeat. As nerve wracking as it is, sonographers aren't supposed to say if there is anything wrong. Which is why she was probably silent. Hopefully they do another scan at your OB office so you have a definitive answer.
