Then our direct flight from Miami-SXM was delayed a day due to the 1/15 St. Maarten ATC strike. Every time I go to SXM we de- plane via stairs and walk to the terminal, or take a bus from the tarmac to arrivals depending on where the plane parked. It has big condo buildings yet feels empty and struggling. Mainly, I guess, the beach is not great so no one visits from elsewhere and most people staying there head out each day.
