It is a Remington Sportsman 48 from 1950 (barrel code KWW) VR barrel stamped skeet with a polychoke and most unusually, custom engraving on the receiver. On close inspection the name "KUHL" can be found. In googling it appears an Orville Kuhl is a known engraver but little seems to turn up. Any additional information would be appreciated.
