I'll say trade for the slab. If you go to NG+ to trade for it you'll always be behind by one slab. Homeward bones are cheap. Where homeward bones are relatively cheap (500 souls), I always felt like it was worth trading for the slab. Outside of the slab in AoA, it's easiest one to get early IMO.
