There is no tether if you play on xbox series x but it's a little bugged. I think playing on "The Island" or "Scorched Earth" is your safest bet, "Aberration" bugs out when you're on the higher plateaus.

It's so frustrating when you're in battle with a friend and they get killed at when they re-spawn their body instantly gets dragged to you killing them over and over again. Tether is still indeed very much in game for non-dedicated. And as above say; you can't even change it. At least in survival evolved you were able to change the tether length, only ever being teleported when host went into a cave. But now even if you change it, the distance will always be 180 meters.Tethering distance is clamped so even if you have set it to 5k, internally it still can't go pass the maximum value. There is no way of fixing this because that's how non dedicated sessions are designed. Dedicated server is the only way that can help. #4.
