I also having the same problem with the 4wd lever. I have read manual and following it, but It is so difficult sometimes that the levers are bending. Power to the start relay on this tractor comes through the OFF contact on the PTO switch. If the PTO switch is failed or unplugged, you cannot start the tractor. If this switch failed in the ON position, that would explain both the PTO light staying on and not being able to start the tractor. Thanks for help.

Mine had a very hard to see line crack that caused it not to be able to develop vacuum and engage. All indications will be that the PTO should be engaged, yet it isn't.1999 TC29 9 speed w/ Live PTO 2650 hrs. Since I've owned this tractor, the PTO has always had a bit of a grind when engaging.
