The tractor was designed to use type F transmission fluid. Deere used to sell type F fluid as "John Deere All Weather Hydrostatic Fluid" for years but they stopped a few years back and specified Hygard initially, then changed the spec. to low viscosity HyGard. You will be fine with type F if you decide to use it.
