My admissions rep was kind enough to fax my guidance officer my letter since I will be leaving on Monday and will not receive my letter until January 3rd! Kenyon students are pretty demanding when it comes to culture, and I think most of the time the college pulls it through. I actually have a lot of friends who go to urban schools (mostly in NYC and Boston) that regret going there-- they get so caught up in the city that they lose the college's culture.Kenyon is ranked only 8 spots behind Wesleyan in the US News ranking, if this is a concern (but those ranking systems are problematic anyway). We turned down a higher ranked LAC (top 15) for a better financial and academic fit at Kenyon–I really think these colleges are of a similar caliber.
