They’re duty-grade uppers. You can surely find something better, but you’ll have to pay more. BCM makes solid milspec stuff with solid customer service and QC. Their uppers will serve most of people just fine. The MCMR/KMR rails are really nice; no need to replace. BCM makes accurate, duty grade, well finished guns.

Not really worried about looks and all that just want to get a lower that won't jiggle all the time when you handle the rifle. Aero M4E1 is an affordable and quality option. It has a tensioning set serew that sets under the rear lug of the upper. Agreed, I have two m4e1 lowers. They fit well with my BCM upper and the tensioning screw works great.
I have a BCM upper receiver that I put together over M4E1 lower from Aero. Fitment - its nice and tight, very minor rattle but enough to engage kingpin/maglock device with bolt held back if you in restricted states. Finish - this is where you may get turned off.
