The Lost Sector was designated to drop Helmets. We just got lucky like you. You can run them in a fireteam but exotics only drop on solo clears. You can get exotics, but they will not be that days slot specific nor does it have bad luck protection. The 10 or so few exotics that I have masterworked, all of them came from either world drops, GM/Master drops or the occasional Xur cracked roll. I occasionally hop in Lost Sectors to get the new exotic they release every season, but that's it really. Farm GMs instead of Lost Sectors. Just don't farm this week.
