They discontinued it a few years back which dropped the price. Then, ironically enough, it gained enough popularity on its way out to make the demand grow to the point that SIG brought it back and increased the price again. It's a good gun. There is no manual safety, though. Only a decocker.

If you would be satisfied with a gun that is. pretty accurate and reliable, the SP2022 would be a great choice if the price is right. Hmmm. Usually guns become discontinued because they don't sell well, or have a repeated issue (s) malfunctioning. I don't recall the last time (if ever) my P239 in 9 malfunctioned. I could see however that it may not be selling well against some of the other offerings they are selling currently.

My second question, I heard of QC issues with those models that were made, prior to them being first discontinued. Since the Sig SP2022 has been made available agian, they have been flawless, how can I tell that the SP2022 I'm buying is the newer models made after they were originally discontinued, is their a certain serial number to look for?
